As you’ll see, I have taken it much farther – adding new content and rewriting old to match bonus materials and novellas. My original plan was to make the announcement closer to May 2023 when the movie trailers to the upcoming MEG-2: The TRENCH motion picture should be coming out, but when an unexpected opportunity with my long-time printer at A & M Publishing presented itself, I decided to bring it out early so that you can devour Volumes I & II before the movie arrives in theaters in August of this year.Īnd so it is with heartfelt thanks that I present to MEGheads past, present & future:Ī seven-volume Collector’s boxed set of Steve Alten’s MEG SERIES, featuring each of the seven full-length MEG novels and three novellas - presented in chronological order. I started planning this months ago – my goal – to create a real keepsake fans of the series could enjoy and pass onto the next generations of Giant Shark and sea monster lovers in their own family. But A & M Publishing could do it – as long as this special Collector’s editions are never sold in stores or on amazon, and are limited to only 5,000 books. Simply put, with three different publishers that was never going to happen. But it takes an old friend in need to get him to return to the water, and a hotshot female submarine pilot to dare him back into a high-tech miniature sub.ĭiving deeper than he ever has before, Taylor will face terror like he's never imagined, and what he finds could turn the tides bloody red until the end of time.SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT (Updated February 22, 2023)įor years MEGheads have been asking for a complete set of all seven MEG novels in hardback. With a PhD in paleontology under his belt, Taylor spends years theorizing, lecturing, and writing about the possibility that Meg still feeds at the deepest levels of the sea. Written off as a crackpot suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, Taylor refuses to forget the depths that nearly cost him his life. The average prehistoric Meg weighs in at twenty tons and could tear apart a Tyrannosaurus rex in seconds. The sole survivor of the mission, Taylor is haunted by what he's sure he saw but still can't prove exists-Carcharodon megalodon, the massive mother of the great white shark. On a top-secret dive into the Pacific Ocean's deepest canyon, Jonas Taylor found himself face-to-face with the largest and most ferocious predator in the history of the animal kingdom.

Meg by Steve Alten

It is similar in structure to its predecessor. The novel is divided into six parts, each named after one of the larger-than-life characters that populate the Inner Frontier, and headed by a quatrain, purportedly composed by another such character, the wandering balladeer Black Orpheus.Ī sequel was published in 2003, The Return of Santiago. Cain crosses the paths of several others also hunting Santiago: besides competing bounty hunters, journalist Virtue Mackenzie wants an interview with Santiago to make her fortune, and master thief the Jolly Swagman covets some unique pieces of alien art in Santiago's possession. The protagonist is a bounty hunter named Sebastian Nightingale Cain, who receives a very valuable piece of information: a hint to the whereabouts of Santiago. The title character, Santiago, is the most sought-after outlaw of the region if not the human universe. The setting of the novel is the Inner Frontier (the region toward the core of the Galaxy) of the interstellar Democracy which humans have formed. The story is essentially a tall tale, in the style of the Wild West, with lonely heroes, shoot-outs and faithless companions. It was first published in 1986 and reprinted in 2004. Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future is a novel by American science fiction author Mike Resnick.
